New Mental Health Care Facility, Midland WA

This project has been designed as a contemporary 2-storey brick and tile grouped dwelling development of 6 units comprising 4 to 6-bedrooms and 2 to 3-bathrooms per dwelling, with a total of 33 beds.

Each dwelling has parking provided for 2 cars within double lock up garages, together with individual courtyards and alfresco areas for each dwelling which are separated from one another by residential fencing.

The brand new facility will allow transfer of current residents from Burswood Mental Health Care. There will be no new patient intake at this facility as it will be purely for upgrading accommodation for these existing residents. The primary function of the new facility will be to provide modern Low Care accommodation for those with a mental health diagnosis.

Main meals will be provided at the facility with snacks in between, assistance with medication, finances, personal hygiene, transportation, health related matters and day-to-day activities. Local GPs will visit once per week to determine if any residents require special clinical services and other client-centred visits from a psychiatrist, psychologist, podiatrist, occupational therapist and diabetes educators. Those with specific needs identified are then directed to the relevant medical centres or hospitals for extra care.
